This intriguingly nutty movie is about mentally ill, unemployed Father Charlie's intent search for buried treasure. The search dynamics are complicated by his competent, hard-working teen Daughter Miranda's varied responses and reluctance toward his frenzied yet somewhat logical hunt.
I like the not-so-clear-cut, thought-provoking ending (no spoiler-alert here), and I love the daughter's endearment to her erratic father, played by Michael Douglas. Brief glimpses into the past reveal Single Father Charlie's charming horse-shaped breakfast toast sculpted for young Daughter Miranda as well as his unique help with school projects. No wonder Miranda subliminally treasures him.

This film's PG-13 rating is for spurts of foul language, and mainly I would have preferred to not hear the use of the Lord's name in vain (probably 4 times).
